The school year in New Zealand usually begins in late January. There are four terms in an academic year.
International students are accepted throughout the year. Any student wishing to gain a particular New Zealand Qualifications Authority qualification should be present for the full academic year.
International students are only allowed to own or drive a car if they have a full New Zealand driver's licence.
Any international student enrolling in term 3 or term 4 may be directed to a special course appropriate to their level of English.

All international students wishing to enrol at Taita College are required to undertake a language proficiency test prior to the enrolment being finalised. The purpose of the testing is to determine the level of study which we believe the student's language capability is best suited to. Final enrolment will be confirmed in writing if agreement is reached between the prospective international student and the college regarding the level of study for the year of enrolment.
International students are accepted in classes at Year 10 level and above.
Details of courses are in the Taita College Prospectus.
All international students are offered special English classes and help with their other subjects.
Each student must live:
either with a family member or close friend arranged by the parents
or in accommodation arranged under the guardianship of a person appointed by the parents
or in a homestay approved by Taita College.
Students must wear the college uniform.
