School Policies

Student Progress
Reports are issued three times a year. These give current information on students' progress. Parent/teacher meetings are held after each of the first two report cycles.

Parents are encouraged to contact us if they have any questions or concerns.

Homework
Homework is set at all levels, every night, so it becomes a matter of habit.
Parents can help by:

  • Taking an interest
  • Checking the students diary once a week
  • Helping students plan their time effectively
  • Providing a quiet place, straight chair, a table and a good light
  • Contacting the school if homework is not arriving home

Absence/Punctuality
Regular attendance is the biggest predictor of success at college. Punctuality and attendance are major indicators of future employability. Only very important events or sickness should be permitted to interfere with regular and punctual attendance at school.

  • All absence should be accounted for by a phone call on the day or a note from a parent/guardian when the child returns
  • Please phone when an absence of more than two days is likely
  • Medical and dental appointments should be made out of class time where possible
  • The appointment card must be presented at the college office before signing out
  • Students leaving the grounds during the school day must sign out at the main office, presenting a letter from their parent/caregiver in explanation
  • Students returning to school or coming in late must sign in at the office with a letter

Lunch Times

  • Students are not permitted to leave the college until approval has been given
  • This approval is considered by the principal only on request in writing from the parent
  • Students going home for lunch regularly may be given a lunch pass permitting them only to go to their own home

Emergency

  • A sick or injured student must report to the main office
  • Only when a parent/caregiver has been contacted and can take care of the student will the student be released from college, except in an emergency

Please keep the college informed of any change to your address or phone numbers

Uniform

  • Uniform is compulsory for all
  • Items apart from shoes, shirts and rainwear are available from our uniform shop
  • If you have any doubts over what constitutes correct uniform, please contact the Deputy or Assistant Principal before buying
  • Parent support in the proper wearing of uniform is essential
